2/4/2014 Thrumming along marvellously!Looking for a fun, quick project and WARM mitts? As crazy as it sounds, I have the nuisance affliction, "Raynaud's Phenomena." Otherwise known as creepy white fingers. Any cold, air conditioning or this crazy cold winter we've been having and my fingers go white. When they warm up, they go purple then red. Lovely. You'd think that someone who knits would always have warm fingers. Well, normally I do when knitting - it's all the other times I do all it takes to keep them warm. I used 1 100 g ball of Istex Alafoss Lopi in Varigated Browns # 9978, and a skien of Fleece Artists Blue Face Leicester Sliver in purple and browns. You can barely make out the thrum stitch below (as a little purple bump/the browns only show to the eye)I can't tell you how warm and cozy they are! I walk the dog in this freezing winter (today a not-so-bad, -14 Celcius) and these mitts are perfect! Eventually the puffs of Sliver on the inside will meld together through wear and felting, making the mitts even warmer.
