Montreal 10/22/2009

Our first away tournament this season - Montreal. Fun was had by all. The kids took home silver and had a taste of old Montreal at the Papillion Restaurant - fab pasta!!! Unfortunately, I had little time to venture  the yarn shops - tant pis! We spent Friday getting lost on the crazy spaghetti highways on our way from our hotel downtown to Pointe Claire, only to spend the rest of the weekend in another parent's van with GPS. Completely sold on the virtues of said GPS, Lou went out and bought one the minute we returned home. I look forward to never nattering at each other over directions again!

The 6 hour drive gave me a chance to work out a new difficult scarf pattern to add to my patterns for sale. I used Blue Sky Alpaca to make it cozy against your neck. I hate the colour I used, so back to the drawing board!

Turkey time! 10/08/2009

Time to close the cottage :( and stuff our faces. A bittersweet weekend. In one way, we get to enjoy the glory that is Ontario Autumn, a delicious BBQ-ed Turkey and a final walk down the lane (until next Spring).

I love the fall. Knitting becomes almost addictive (or panicked, depending how you  look at it). I have to say, I  love to see what everyone is coming out with: the fashion designers, interior mags, blogs,  the yarn manufacturers, the knitwear designers: I love the work of Ysolda Teague - hats off Girl! The Big Thick Vogue. Fall rocks!

The transition, from this weekend to next, detonates the busyness of our lives. From lazy dockside afternoons, to the noisy gyms of basketball, the excitement of games and seeing your kid sink the 3-pointer (hopefully) and the sore bums we'll get from the wooden bleachers. Practices are 3 times a week. Our weekends are spent traveling to various towns or out of the country for tournaments. And we love every minute of it!

Our first stop of the whirlwind season is Montreal; probable the nicest hotel we will stay in this year. And the kids can get that foreign feel, listening to the french and franglais. But Rochester is my fav annual trip - for obvious shopping reasons. I'll blink and it will be Christmas. Blink again, Easter. But for now, I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and save travels. Joxo
